Today I want to show you some 1940’s love. I love looking into the past and often daydream of what life must have been like way back when. It has been a bit of a passion of mine to hold a 1940’s wartime charity event and I’m determined I will make this happen once the right time comes along!
Looking at the 1940’s there are so many angles in which you can take such as wartime or hollywood glamour. Just think of ‘Casablanca’ and ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and transport yourself back to the 1940’s!
I’m focusing on a 1940’s british vintage affair. Think bunting and Red, White & Blue!
I just love this ‘Save the Date’ card by ‘In the tree house’ it really sets the theme of the day with a vintage take on the British Flag.
Knots & Kisses all do a range of wedding stationery appropriately named ‘A Very British Wedding’ a gorgeous range featuring a rustic looking British Flag.
Decoration can consist of British flag bunting such as these two ranges from Little Bundles Bunting.
Adorn centrepieces with a mixture of jam jars, roses and calla lilies. For a touch of the wartime add sandbags and cargo netting with helmets and ammunition boxes as centerpieces. Use different propaganda posters as the table names!
Make sure you fill the air waves with sounds of Jive and Swing! why not hire a dance teacher to treat your guests on the day and teach them some authentic dancing.
Why stop at the decor & music, take your food back in time and create a jam sponge cake like this one! Yum yum!
In my opinion this theme is pretty much a DIY bride dream. I think as long as you stick to the Red, White & Blue colours
What else would you add to your 1940’s extravaganza?
